Shooting Star, №1

The 25 Mile Stretch between Mount Dora and DeLand is particularly bleak, and especially in the dead of night. I rolled down the windows to let the wind rush into the car. A hint of the burnt scrub stung the air, scorched forests hidden by darkness. Cassia is along this road, where Lovecraft used to summer.
I saw a shooting star streak across the sky. It must have lasted a few seconds, producing a prominent green streak, indicating the presence of copper; it burned up in an orange halo.
